Jarell Martin Is Right Choice For Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies were a couple of injuries away from pulling an upset and returning to the Western Conference Finals last year. They have a very balanced and talented team, but could be losing some key contributors next season. Marc Gasol is a free agent, as is backup big man Kosta Koufos, and it is unlikely that both would return. The Grizzlies could have chosen to add shooting, but drafting Jarell Martin will give them additional depth down low.

Martin is a little bit undersized at power forward, but his athleticism can help offset that. He gives the team quickness and agility, as well as more versatility in their lineup. He is comfortable putting the ball on the ground and has a developing outside shot, although he still has a lot of work to do to make it more consistent. He does not currently have much of a post game, but playing with Zach Randolph and Gasol would likely mean that he would be more of a slasher and finisher.

He is not as good as he should be defensively, as he just does not use his athletic ability enough. Oftentimes, this can be contributed to a lack of effort and intensity, something that the Grizzlies should be able to work on. They have some of the best defenders in the league who are constantly working hard.

Martin might not be a star in the league, but he is a very good fit with the Grizzlies. He has the physical tools to be successful, but needs more of a push to bring out the most in him. The Grizzlies have a solid foundation and the right players to make Martin better. If he can show more intensity, then he has the skillset to make an impact.

Watch Barnes Say He'd Beat Fisher Down In A Fight

TMZ caught up with Matt Barnes to ask him if he'd seen the clip floating around the Internet of him versus Derek Fisher on 'UFC 2'. Not only had Barnes seen the clip, he says that's exactly what would happen in real life and that he doesn't need an Octagon for it to happen. This dude is still seething with anger and it might be best for Fisher to stay far away.

Warriors Get Away With Fouling Stephenson, Keep Record Alive

I don't normally buy into the idea that the NBA is rigged when something shady happens at the end of a game. However, whether they realized they did so or not, the officiating crew of the Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies contest on Saturday night turned its collective head when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson fouled Lance Stephenson as time expired. Stephenson should have been at the foul line with a chance to win the game. Instead, the Warriors head to San Antonio to take on the Spurs with a chance to continue chasing the single-season win total record.

Matt Barnes Follows John Henson Into Tunnel After Double Ejection

John Henson and Matt Barnes got into it on Thursday evening. After Henson emphatically rejected Barnes, he showcased an outrageous stink face, and Barnes took exception. Both players were ejected, and Barnes subsequently followed Henson down the tunnel to the Bucks' locker room. Henson was seen with a scrape on his face after the game, so it's fair to assume to two weren't discussing their NCAA tournament brackets in the bowels of BMO Harris Bradley Center.
