2015 NBA Draft: Grading Every Philadelphia 76ers Pick

Entering the 2015 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers had an opportunity to add some quality talent to their roster. But outside of their top pick Jahlil Okafor, they failed to capitalize on a great opportunity. Throughout the draft, the 76ers completely ignored their desperate need for perimeter players and instead selected one big man after another. With the draft now over, here are the grades for each of the 76ers' five 2015 draft picks.

With the last pick in the draft, you can only hope to get lucky with the player you selected. However, in all likelihood, the 76ers will not get lucky. A 6-foot-8 big from Serbia, Mitrovic is unlikely to come over for at least a few years, if ever. With a handful of talented players still on the board, the 76ers could have used this pick in a much wiser way.

Round 2, Pick 58 – J.P. Tokoto

Entering the 2015 NBA Draft with a desperate need for backcourt help, the 76ers waited until pick No. 58 to finally address this issue. A 6-foot-6 shooting guard from North Carolina, Tokoto has the size to become a contributor right away for the 76ers defensively. A solid selection late in the draft, Tokoto could be another one of those players who head coach Brett Brown tries to develop over the next few years.

Grade: B-

Round 2, Pick 47 - Arturas Gudaitis

A 22-year-old center from Lithuania, Gudaitis is another international big man who will be stashed by the 76ers for at least a few years. Entering year three of their rebuild, the 76ers need as much talent right now as they can get, and the pick of Gudaitis does not help with that.

Grade: F

Round 2, Pick 37 - Richaun Holmes

The Defensive Player of the Year last season in the Mid-American Conference, Holmes projects to be a solid athlete who is best at being a face-up power forward. With a plethora of big men on their roster, it will be hard for Holmes to find himself playing a good amount of minutes for the 76ers next season.

Grade: C

Round 1, Pick 3 – Jahlil Okafor

With Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel already on their roster, it came as a bit of a surprise to some that the 76ers selected Duke center Jahlil Okafor with the No. 3 overall pick. The Sixers will say that they stayed true to their rebuilding plan and took the best player available, but with a glaring need at the point guard position, one has to wonder what they will do with all of these big men.

Grade: B+

Emmanuel Mudiay Devastates Philadelphia 76ers With Buzzer-Beater

The Philadelphia 76ers nearly cemented their fourth road win of the season on Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets. Philadelphia was up two points with just seconds remaining when rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay nailed a prayer shot from outside the arch as time expired to give the Nuggets a one-point victory. The 2015-16 NBA season can't end soon enough for the lowly 76ers, who are now 9-63.
