Long time NBA veteran Paul Pierce seemed to thrive with the young Washington Wizards this season, reminding everyone once again “why they got him here.” That hasn’t stopped him from being a smart businessman, though, as he will opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent.
Not only does he have the chance to make the most money he can with the cap expected to increase, but he can potentially join a team on the verge of a championship, like the Los Angeles Clippers, for example.
Washington seems confident in a return, and they are definitely a rising young team, but it still feels like they won’t compete unless they get another piece or two. Whatever happens, it seems as though Pierce is weighing all of his options with this move.
