It is safe to say that without forward Draymond Green’s help in the 2015 NBA playoffs, the Golden State Warriors would not be champions. The good news is the restricted free agent has no interest in signing with any other team this summer, as long as the Warriors want him back.

Golden State general manager Bob Myers has already made it clear the Warriors have every intention of re-signing Green to a long-term deal. In fact, there does not appear any chance the organization allows him to walk in free agency after his stellar contributions when it mattered most.

“We’ll bring him back,” Myers said from the podium during the Warriors’ championship celebration. “If you’re worried, don’t worry.”

If Golden State wants to become a dynasty, something many believe is possible with the talented young core, Green is clearly instrumental to the continued success. There are several teams that have voiced their desire to sign Green in free agency, but the Warriors have already hinted they plan to match any offer. Considering he is a restricted free agent, it essentially means the chances of Green signing elsewhere are slim to none.

Green’s play at power forward during the regular season and the postseason was one of the main difference makers that allowed the Warriors to emerge champions. David Lee hardly saw any action due to Green’s emergence, which is why the organization has stated they plan to deal Lee in the offseason.

What makes Green so great is his ability to excel on defense, provide an offensive game, and bring a level of necessary toughness to the court. What could be even more important is his ability to motivate the players around him to raise their level of play.

Sources have indicated Golden State will offer Green at least $12 million per season.
