The NBA Finals and the NBA Draft have both wrapped up. Now it’s free agency time. The Detroit Pistons have a lot of work to do if they want to return to how it used to be when the announcer was always yelling "Detroit basketball" during the glory days. Here are five easy steps the Pistons can take towards fixing their team and beginning to resemble a contender once again.

5. Improve Drummond's Free-Throw Shooting

Drummond is a center who has a lot of potential. He is always controlling the boards every night and he still has more potential to get better offensively. But he needs to learn how to shoot free throws. Shooting less than 40 percent isn’t even close to good enough for a center that wants to be on a championship team.

4. Bring in a Championship Veteran

Every championship needs someone who has been there before, whether it is the head coach or a player on the team. The Pistons should try to bring in a cheap option like Jason Terry. Terry has won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks and he still has an infectious energy that can help whatever team he is on.

3. Acquire a Stretch Power Forward

Although Draymond Green is going to return to the Golden State Warriors, the Pistons should at least attempt to sign a player similar to Green. The Pistons brought in Ersan Ilyasova as a possible option, but they shouldn’t be satisfied as other teams continue to get better.

2. Get a Starting Caliber Small Forward

For the Pistons, the small forward position is open. Other than Tayshaun Prince, the Pistons didn’t really have any small forwards on their roster. The Pistons drafted Stanley Johnson as their small forward of the future, but he won’t be ready yet. The Pistons should make an attempt at restricted free agent Tobias Harris, a young small forward who can also play power forward.

1. Add a Go-To Scorer

The Pistons have Reggie Jackson as their starting point guard. He isn't very likely to play like a star. If Dwyane Wade doesn’t get his contract issues resolved, the Pistons should talk to Wade and measure his interest.
