After defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA Finals, the future appears to be bright for the Golden State Warriors thanks to a young nucleus of players–especially Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson–that will only get better and better with experience. Obviously, repeating as champions certainly won’t be easy, but the Warriors took a big step to make sure that happens by agreeing to a new five-year deal with Draymond Green.

Despite drawing interest from numerous teams, it’s safe to say Green always wanted to be part of Golden State for the long run considering the potential Steve Kerr’s team has to win multiple championships over the next couple of years. Not only did Green play a key role in helping the Warriors defeat LeBron James and the Cavaliers in six games during this year’s Finals, but Green set career highs in numerous categories during the regular season.

Plus, let’s not forget how close Green was to taking home Defensive Player of the Year honors this year as well.

There’s no doubt the Western Conference will be tough once again in 2015-16, but landing Green will make the Warriors strong contenders once again heading into next year. Between earning a ring and a massive pay day from the Warriors, life is pretty darn good for Green at the moment–especially when you consider the fact that he’s only 25.
