The last two weeks for the Miami Heat have been their brightest few days since the team was surprised by the skills of Hassan Whiteside. After that the rest of the season was a disaster. Then they were saved by the lottery, Justise Winslow dropped in their laps and they brought Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng and Goran Dragic back. Now it’s time for them to solidify the missing pieces of their bench with one of these five available players.

Being a former Heat draft pick, champion and "little brother" of Dwyane Wade should at least get Dorell Wright a look. His near 40 percent three-point shooting last season should get him a call.

If a cheap, designated backcourt scorer is what the Miami Heat are looking for, then Marcus Thornton and his 38 percent 3-point shooting may be the right fit. He’s also another former Pat Riley pick.

If shredding salary (by moving Mario Chalmers) is the goal, then the Heat could use a spark off the bench like Leandro Barbosa. Not to say that he would be an upgrade, but his energy would definitely fit the new tempo Coach Spoelstra is trying to implement.

Whether it’s because of lobbying, his sons wearing Heat jerseys with him on opposing teams or the fact that he has a home in Miami, Carlos Boozer seems to be linked to the organization every offseason. If the team decides to move Chris Andersen or Josh McRoberts, this would be a prime time for Boozer to sign for the mid-level exception. His seven rebounds per game and smooth pick-and-pop play would surely be needed.

An athletic, aggressive, capable shooter who has the ability to defend when he really chooses to. Many might mistake that for a description of J.R. Smith, but it is actually that of a person (Gerald Green) who could have the same impact that he did for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Some may turn up their noses at that, but there is no denying 12 PPG on 35 percent shooting from the three and 42 percent from the field.
