The Los Angeles Clippers are in trouble. Chris Paul reportedly ignored the DeAndre Jordan free agency situation while vacationing in the Bahamas with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, and now Doc Rivers doesn’t have a starting center next season. I’m not sure why CP3 decided to ignore Jordan after news surfaced that the two already didn’t get along very well, but it has cost the Clippers a chance at contending.

Paul made an error in judgement by ignoring Jordan’s ego, and the point guard will end up regretting this. Maybe he thought the Clippers adding Paul Pierce would ensure Jordan’s return, but if this is true, CP3 misjudged that assumption. Pierce is probably now wishing that he had stayed with the Washington Wizards for a legitimate chance to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, because Los Angeles doesn’t have enough for a long playoff run anymore.

So what are the Clippers missing without Jordan in the fold? They just lost a player who checked into every single game last season and led the NBA in field goal percentage to go along with 15 RPG. He also completed more dunks than any other player last year, and that doesn’t even begin to mention his impact on the defensive end. Los Angeles’ loss is the Dallas Mavericks‘ gain, which I’m sure is making Mark Cuban smile right now.

The Clippers are no longer contenders in a Western Conference that just saw LaMarcus Aldridge and David West join the San Antonio Spurs, and CP3 will come to regret not making Jordan a higher priority this offseason.
