When the offseason started, the Memphis Grizzlies knew what their top priority was — re-signing big man Marc Gasol.
They can now check that off of their to-do list, as the Grizzlies and Gasol have come to an agreement on a five-year, $100-plus million deal that will keep the Memphis franchise going strong for the foreseeable future.

There were several parties interested in signing Gasol this offseason, but he appeared uninterested in hearing any pitches outside of the Grizzlies’. After almost a week of discussions between the two sides, they’ve finally come to terms on a deal that will allow Memphis to remain contenders.
Gasol has quickly emerged as one of the top offensive big men in the game, scoring at will while also dominating the boards and proving to be a hindrance for opponents who dare venture into the paint. With him in the lineup for at least the next five years, the Grizzlies should have no problem staying atop the Western Conference.
It was only a matter of time before the Grizzlies handed Gasol a massive payday, and now that time has come. Memphis fans will celebrate tonight knowing their future looks bright with the Spaniard making a commitment.
