Chandler Parsons worked hard to recruit DeAndre Jordan to the Dallas Mavericks. After thinking he succeeded and the 26-year-old center was indeed set to join his team, Jordan shockingly backed out of his commitment and decided to return to the Los Angeles Clippers after all.

Without a doubt, Jordan handled the situation about as poorly as he possibly could. As you would expect, Parsons and the Mavericks are not happy.

Parsons was interviewed on Thursday by Tim MacMahon of ESPN and did not hold anything back. He said he felt, “shocked, very disappointed, frustrated, (and) disrespected” when he found out Jordan had decided to back out of his commitment and return to the Clippers.

“When a man gives you his word and an organization his word, especially when that organization put in so much effort and I walked him through this process and was very, very open and willing to work with him, it’s just very unethical and disrespectful.” Parsons explained.

Parsons believed there was nothing else he or the Mavericks could have physically or emotionally done to make Jordan feel more comfortable and to make him stay and sign with Dallas.

Clearly upset, Parsons joked, “I guess maybe I could have stayed with him in L.A. or Houston and held his hand throughout the entire process, but I didn’t think that ever I would have to do something like that.”

As the interview came to a close, McMahon asked Parsons if there was anything he’d like to add. Once again, Parsons didn’t mince any words and explained exactly why he thought Jordan backed out of his commitment.

“He wasn’t ready for being a franchise player. He was scared. He was scared to take the next step in his career. There was no other reason other than that he was comfortable and he has friendships there. How you make a business decision like that is beyond me. How you ignore an owner like Mark who is in your hometown just waiting for a chance to talk to you is beyond me.”

Anyone else excited for the first Clippers vs. Mavericks game in Dallas this year?
