While the rest of the NBA was enamored with DeAndre Jordan’s decision to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, Luke Ridnour was waived by the Toronto Raptors early Thursday morning.

This probably seems like the least important free agency news of the entire day, but if you’ve been following Ridnour’s offseason, you would know that he was picked up and waived by four teams during a day in late June before joining his fifth team, the Raptors, only to see them discard him too.

Ridnour has had the most tumultuous offseason in NBA history. Players often play a season in one place and then move on to other things, but never has there been a player who has had five different homes in a week. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard was actually the 14th overall pick by the then Seattle SuperSonics in the 2003 draft after a stellar career at the University of Oregon.

Life wasn’t always this hectic for him, but his longest stint was his first five years in Seattle. Since then and before spending that week in free agency purgatory, he plied his trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks and the then-Charlotte Bobcats.

Ridnour resides in the place where his NBA career began and is taking his offseason saga in good spirits. His contract likely is the source of the all the movement, as the $2.75 million that he is owed for next season make him an attractive, but expendable asset for many teams around the league. He is an experienced option off the bench, and a cheap one at that. His 9.3 PPG and 4.5 APG are markers of a player who still can be valuable to many teams in the NBA.

For now Ridnour is without a home again, but keep refreshing your Twitter feed — it’s likely that he could make it six sooner than later.
