The Miami Heat came into the 2015 offseason with plenty of questions regarding their future, and not a lot of answers. With speculation that Dwyane Wade might leave for another franchise willing to pay more, and that Goran Dragic might decline a max contract from the organization, the uncertainty was enough to put Heat fans in a depressing whirlwind.

Alas, Pat Riley and the rest of the organization rolled up their sleeves and got down to business with their key free agents. Not only did they convince Dragic to take slightly less on his five-year, $85 million contract, but they also managed to convince Wade to take a one-year deal to give the team cap space for next season’s free agency bonanza.

Couple that with Luol Deng’s decision to opt into the final year of his contract, the Heat now have one of the strongest starting lineups in the entire Eastern Conference.

Moving on from the starting lineup, the Heat still needed to address issues with the bench. The Heat’s bench unit ranked as one of the worst in the NBA last season, so offensive production had to rank extremely high on the organization’s list of priorities. Not only did the Heat manage to sign both veteran small forward Gerald Green, a 3-point sharpshooter, and Amare Stoudemire, a low-post behemoth, Riley managed to convince them both to play in Miami for the veteran’s minimum. Talk about a deal.

The Heat had arguably one of the best offseasons of any team in NBA. They were able to re-sign their best players, and bringing in veteran talent to push this team to the top of the East. Next season should be an extremely interesting one in Miami.

Grade: A
