5 More Roster Moves Los Angeles Should Consider Making

The Los Angeles Lakers haven't had the offseason they hoped for. They failed to land a star like Jimmy Butler, LaMarcus Aldridge or Kevin Love. The Lakers traded a future second-round pick for Roy Hibbert, who is in his last year of his contract he signed with Indiana. The Lakers signed Louis Williams and Brandon Bass also. They must make a few more moves to complete their roster.

The Lakers are missing a reliable small forward on their roster. Wesley Johnson signed with the Clippers, which means that Kobe Bryant will likely shift to small forward. Besides Bryant, who can play the position? Only rookie Anthony Brown can play SF. Dorell Wright isn't as reliable as he once was, but he is a capable backup who can shoot and defend multiple spots. He averaged 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game with Portland last year.

4. Sign Kevin Seraphin

Kevin Seraphin is certainly one of the more under-the-radar names in free agency. The 25-year-old big averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game last year. When given good minutes, Seraphin has been known to produce. An example of this was shown in 2012-13 when he started eight games. As a starter that season, he averaged 13.4 PPG and 7.8 RPG. He will bring physicality and the ability to alter shots in the paint.

Ryan Kelly and Robert Sacre are under contract, but the Lakers must find a way to deal them. After a promising rookie year, Kelly struggled to get going for most of last year. Kelly averaged 6.4 PPG and shot 34 percent from the field. It shouldn't be hard to find a team with interest in Kelly, as he is a 6-foot-11 forward with range and passing ability. Sacre is a cheap backup option who plays hard and crashes the glass.

2. Sign K.J. McDaniels

K.J. McDaniels was a pleasant surprise last year as the 32nd pick. In 62 games with the Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets, he averaged 7.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. McDaniels is a terrific athlete who can defend multiple positions effectively. He also has the potential to become the best shot-blocking wing in the league. He averaged 1.3 blocks in only 25.4 minutes per game. McDaniels is what the Lakers need, a young lockup defender.

Nick Young can score, but when he is off, he is a headache for most Lakers coaches and fans. Young averaged 13.4 PPG, but he only shot 37 percent from the field. It was certainly a disappointing year for Young, who was terrific in 2013-14. That season he averaged 17.9 PPG on 44 percent shooting. The primary reason the Lakers must get rid of him is because they signed Louis Williams, who is the reigning Sixth Man of the Year and a scorer.
