5 Big-Name Free Agents the Los Angeles Lakers Should Target in 2016 By Bronson Kamei PREV NEXT 5 Big-Name Free Agents the Los Angeles Lakers Should Target in 2016 Getty Images Even with some nifty maneuvering after missing out on the big names this offseason, luring a big-name free agent in 2016 remains a top priority for the Los Angeles Lakers. Here are five players they should be targeting. 5. Mike Conley Getty Images 5. Mike Conley Getty Images The reason for Conley being ranked just fifth on this list comes down to two factors: his position and unlikeliness to change teams. He seems to be incredibly comfortable in Memphis, and the Lakers have both Jordan Clarkson and D'Angelo Russell on the roster. Regardless, Conley is one of the best two-way point guards in the league and would be a great addition to any team. 4. DeMar DeRozan Getty Images 4. DeMar DeRozan Getty Images While not as good a player as Conley, DeRozan's L.A. roots should make him a priority target. His ability to get to the line somewhat mitigates his inefficient shot selection. If he ever develops a three-point shot, he'll be one of the deadliest scorers in all of the NBA. 3. Joakim Noah Getty Images 3. Joakim Noah Getty Images Noah would be a terrific complement to Julius Randle, as his rebounding, passing ability and defensive chops will make him one of the most sought after free agents on the market. 2. Al Horford Getty Images 2. Al Horford Getty Images Perhaps the only available big man who would fit better with Randle than Noah is his ex-college teammate, Al Horford. Horford brings some of the same defensive and passing abilities as Noah, with the added benefit of providing extra floor spacing. 1. Kevin Durant Getty Images 1. Kevin Durant Getty Images Obviously, whenever a player of Durant's caliber hits free agency with even a remote chance of coming to your team, you do whatever you can to try to get him. A healthy Durant instantly transforms any team into a contender, and the Lakers' prestige should be enough to at least get a foot in the door next July.
