Los Angeles Clippers' Paul Pierce Has Unfinished Business With Doc Rivers

Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers won their first and only title with the Boston Celtics, and next season they will attempt to run it back in California. Pierce was a part of DeAndre Jordan‘s re-recruitment to the Los Angeles Clippers, and “The Truth” should be a valuable resource for Rivers during other off-the-court problems in the 2015-16 campaign.

We all remember how the defending champion 2008-09 Celtics team started off the season by winning 27 out of their first 29 games before losing in the Eastern Conference semifinals to the Orlando Magic, and it’d be sweet relief for Pierce to grab a title this time around in his home state. Kevin Garnett won’t be on board, which is a shame, but it would still feel amazing for Pierce and Rivers to get sprayed with champagne once more. It wouldn’t be surprising if things with Josh Smith don’t work out in Los Angles and the Clippers look to add KG midseason as a bench option. It seems like he is perfectly happy to ride out his mentor-ship role with the Minnesota Timberwolves until he gets a front office or ownership gig there, but stranger things have happened than a veteran player growing tired of a losing atmosphere.

As for Pierce, the SF proved last postseason with the Washington Wizards that he still has some playoff juice left, and “The Truth” broke a lot of hearts in the District on his way out the door. It looked like he might stay there after wearing a D.C. baseball cap to his exit interview, but instead he is heading back home to take care of unfinished business.
