Naming the Boston Celtics’ Mount Rushmore of All-Time Greats

The Boston Celtics are the NBA's greatest franchise, and with that title comes many outstanding players. It takes at least three or four Mount Rushmores to exhibit the true greatness of the Celtics, but if there was only one, these four players would make the cut.

Kevin McHale, Tom Heinsohn, Dave Cowens, Robert Parish, Sam Jones, Dennis Johnson, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce.

One of the greatest and most under-appreciated players to ever play the game, John Havlicek was an eight-time NBA champion. He is also the Celtics' all-time leading scorer and was a 13-time All-Star.

Perhaps the purest passer in NBA history, Bob Cousy was the floor general of the first Celtics' dynasty. Cousy won six championships, was a 13-time All-Star and was a two-time All-Star Game MVP.

The greatest pure shooter in NBA history, Larry Bird won three championships in the 1980s with two Finals MVP awards. He was also a three-time NBA MVP and a 12-time NBA All-Star. On most other teams, Bird would be No. 1, but not the Celtics.

The greatest winner to ever play in the NBA, Russell won 11 championships in 13 seasons with the Celtics, was a five-time NBA MVP and recorded 12 All-Star appearances. The dynasty officially started when Red Auerbach traded for Russell.
