The Los Angeles Lakers had a rough offseason, but will look to move forward with what they got. It will be an interesting season as they have a young roster combined with several veterans. However, the organization will likely have an eye on next summer as well, as they look to find another star to add to their roster.

The Lakers need help at small forward, and Batum’s versatility would be a good fit next to their younger players. He’s a decent shooter capable of making plays on the wing, and can contribute on the defensive end with his length. He brings a veteran presence, and gives the team another threat.

4. Hassan Whiteside

If Julius Randle is still on the roster, then the Lakers will need an athletic big man to pair next to him. Whiteside could be looking for a huge deal, although he still has a lot to prove. But his defensive ability and length would be a good fit next to Randle.

3. DeMar DeRozan

DeRozan has a lot of athletic ability and talent, and would be an interesting fit in Los Angeles. He is a hometown kid who could thrive in a high-octane offense next to D’Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson.

2. Al Horford

Horford’s next contract will take him out of his prime, but he is skilled enough to still be a high-caliber player as he ages. He is a very good big man who gives his team a lot of versatility on defense, and would be the perfect veteran to have in the locker room.

Durant is the biggest prize in free-agency, and although it is hard to see him leaving his current team, he would be a huge get for the Lakers. He is one of the best players in the league, and will be entering his prime. There are concerns about injuries, but he should be ready to prove himself again this year.
