In many ways a team's general manager is just as important as its coach. It's the GM's job to give his coach the best roster possible to win. Of course, now the NBA is setting a trend that coaches should instead have total control over roster decisions, but GMs typically get more leeway than coaches. Some get more than they deserve. These are the five worst in the NBA.

Any idiot could have drafted Anthony Davis with the No. 1 overall pick. Omer Asik is an elite rim protector, but that does not make him worth five years, $ 60 million. Demps gave Tyreke Evans four years, $ 44 million and matched Eric Gordon's infamous offer sheet of four years and $ 58 million. The highest compliment you can give Demps is that he was able to lock Davis up long-term. He should have been fired with Monty Williams.

Rich Cho came to Charlotte with a great reputation from his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He hasn’t lived up to that hype. Trading Tobias Harris for a pick that turned out to be Bismack Biyombo might be the most devastating move for Cho. It is hard to imagine that Cho has all the influence on basketball decisions. Team owner Michael Jordan was said to have been a huge supporter of the Lance Stephenson signing, and we all saw how that went.

3. Los Angeles Lakers: Mitch Kupchak

Mitch Kupchak seems to be Lakers GM for life. He obviously gets along well with the Buss family. Over the past few seasons, however, Kupchak has figured out that it is harder to run a team when you don't have the best coach and the best player. Somehow he pulled off that Pau Gasol trade from Memphis which was completely ridiculous. But he also did things like give an aging Kobe Bryant a two-year, nearly $ 50 million extension.

2. New York Knicks: Steve Mills

Steve Mills was hired back by Knicks owner and friend James Dolan as GM in September of 2013. Mills was the Garden's president of sports teams operations during his initial run with the franchise. He is most well known for hiring his good friend Isiah Thomas to the executive and coaching positions. That alone should get him a spot on this list, but now he is just a lackey. He went from James Dolan's yes man to playing that role for Phil Jackson.

Billy King had the tall task of replacing the legendary executive who built the great Nets teams of the 2000s -- Rod Thorn. In fairness to King, some of his moves have been encouraged by an overeager owner who had no idea what he was doing from the start. The Paul Pierce/Kevin Garnett trade never should have happened. The loss of draft picks is devastating still. Deron Williams is gone though, so there's that.
