The Toronto Raptors had a magnificent season in 2014-15. They won 49 games and they showed that their 48 wins the previous season, were no fluke. As a result the Raptors have won back-to-back Atlantic Division titles, which is strange for a team with a total of three in their franchise history.

The main reason the Raptors are successful is their backcourt duo. DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry form one of the better backcourt duos in the NBA. DeRozan made the All-Star Game in 2014, while Lowry made it last season. The problem is that Lowry, who had the best season of his career, struggled in the postseason. Lowry averaged 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. The 29-year-old shot 32 percent from the field. As a result, the Washington Wizards swept the Raptors in the first round.

This offseason Lowry showed that he was ready to put that behind him, as he worked hard to get in great shape. A report came out stating that Lowry lost weight and looks in the best shape he’s been in. Lowry ate healthier and had some intense workouts throughout the season.

In the Raptors’ 93-73 win against the Los Angeles Clippers, Lowry was magnificent. The guard went for 26 points (7-10 FG) in only 21 minutes. The performance came against an elite point guard in Chris Paul. Paul went for 7 points (2-8 FG) in 24 minutes. I know that many fans are thinking that it is just preseason. Lowry played well in two games against the Clippers, as he averaged 23 points on 58 percent field goals.

Raptors fans have many reasons to be excited, whether it’s the addition of DeMarre Carroll or their fascinating backcourt duo. One can expect Lowry to have another All-Star season and be one of the elite point guards in the league. Lowry will perform at a high level once the playoffs come around.
