The Dallas Mavericks are actually a surprising team in the NBA. The team has even won a few games against potential playoff teams. But with Dirk Nowitzki heading towards his the end of his career, just winning a few good games isn’t enough. Here are five hypothetical trades the Mavericks could make in order to make Nowitzki’s final years memorable.

Powell has been playing well for the Mavericks this season, but the team has to think about the future. A trade in which the Mavericks get Kenneth Faried and Randy Foye would help that. Faried has potential and he even has international experience against some of the world’s best players. Denver would get Chandler Parsons and Dwight Powell in return for Faried and Foye.

Jeremy Lamb has been revitalized ever since he landed with the Charlotte Hornets. He is having a career year after wasting away with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Mavericks should try to get him. The Mavericks would trade Devin Harris and a future first round pick for Lamb. Lamb’s ability to shoot and put up points would make up for Parsons’ lack of production.

3. Gerald Green Comes to the Mavericks

With the Miami Heat already trading one of their players earlier this month, it is obvious that nearly no one is safe on the Heat. The Mavericks were interested in Gerald Green during the offseason, but they were unable to sign him. The Mavericks should trade Dwight Powell in order to get a player in Green who can provide instant offense.

2. Chandler Parsons to the Bulls

The Mavericks should be trying to find a power forward who can reliably take some minutes from Nowitzki. The Chicago Bulls are still searching for someone who can consistently play on the perimeter. Both teams would win in a trade that would send Parsons and Justin Anderson to the Bulls and Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and Kirk Hinrich to the Mavericks.

The Mavericks need an heir to Nowitzki. One possible candidate is Joel Embiid. The Philadelphia 76ers already have two centers so they don’t really need Embiid. There is a huge risk because of Embiid’s injury history, but the Mavericks have to take chances since they failed to land big free agents over the past couple of years. The 76ers would get Chandler Parsons in the trade and the Mavericks would get Joel Embiid and Richaun Holmes.
