Kawhi Leonard Is San Antonio Spurs’ Most Pleasant Surprise At 2015-16 Halfway Point

It is hard to call someone with Kawhi Leonard’s talent a surprise, but the star player has taken the next step and is now one of the top players in the entire league. He has steadily improved in each of his seasons and continues to be a lockdown defender capable of guarding multiple positions. The San Antonio Spurs are looking like a serious contender for the championship this season, and Leonard is a huge reason why.

Leonard entered the league with a questionable offensive game, although he did have excellent measurables. He has worked hard to improve his outside shot and is now a lethal option from the perimeter when left open. He shoots a very high percentage from the free-throw line and does not turn the ball as much as other star players. He has also proved this season that he can be a go-to player down the stretch, showing an ability to get into the lane and create his own shot.

Leonard is arguably the best defender in the league and a huge weapon for the Spurs. He can match up against point guards, shooting guards, small forwards and even some power forwards. His incredible wingspan, quick feet and excellent reactions make him a nightmare for opponents, as they struggle to find any space against him. He creates a lot of turnovers and makes it difficult for players to finish over him. He has proven that he can go against the best players on the planet and will not back down from anyone.

Perhaps the most impressive attribute of Leonard continues to be his team first attitude. He fits in perfectly with the Spurs and will do whatever it takes to win. He constantly has to match up against the opposing team’s top player, while also being counted on to carry a large role on offense. He doesn’t demand the ball on every play and often times will simply take what the defense gives him, making him very efficient on offense. He makes plenty of plays that do not show up on the box score but are necessary for his team to win.

Leonard has become one of the top players in the league and can compete at a high level on both ends of the court. He continues to get better on offense while being capable of locking down almost any offensive player. He fits perfectly into what the Spurs want to do and is a big reason why they are one of the top contenders this year.

Stephen Curry Puts On A Clinic Against Spurs

NBA fans and media alike were incredibly excited for the first meeting of the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors this season, and many expected an uber-competitive game to take place on Monday night. Well, the game was enthralling, but not very competitive. Stephen Curry put on a clinic, and was dribbling circles around the Spurs throughout. Here's some evidence. If that floater wasn't epic enough, in the second-half Curry added this drive in which he pulled the magic out on Jonathon Simmons.

Watch Spurs HC Popovich Pull Fast One On Parker

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has become synonymous for his cold shoulder handling of the media, but he does have a wry sense of humor on occasion. This little clip is hilarious how he just messes with Tony Parker. I couldn't stop laughing.

Barkley Calls Leonard Best Player In The World

Kawhi Leonard is one of the best young players in the NBA today and there's no disputing that. Charles Barkley however, believes that Leonard is the best player in the entire world and there has never been a more ridiculous statement to come out of his mouth. If you take Leonard away from the Spurs, they would find a way to be competitive. Take LeBron James or Stephen Curry away from their teams, and they don't have a chance.
