Dwyane Wade Gives Kobe Bryant Perfect 'Netflix and Chill' Gift

At the 2016 NBA All-Star Game over the weekend, all eyes were on Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who was making his 18th and final appearance before retiring at the end of the season. Bryant was lauded by fans, media and peers alike, and everyone seemed to have an excellent time.

There was also a dinner afterward in which Bryant was the guest of honor hosted by fellow All-Stars Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. Throughout the night, players told stories about their interactions with Bryant through the years, and gave him a number of gifts.

Wade’s gift was by far the most interesting.

A one-year Netflix subscription will undoubtedly come in handy for Bryant with all the free time he will have going forward. Bryant seemed to have enjoyed and appreciated the festivities.

“It was really special,” Bryant told The Associated Press on Sunday night after scoring 10 points in his last All-Star appearance, a 196-173 win for the West over the East. “Those are the things you don’t get a chance to hear when you’re competing against each other. To hear those stories now, you have such a deep sense of appreciation and such a brotherhood from all the years of competing against each other. It just felt good.”

It’s worth noting that due to how serious and fierce of a competitor Bryant has been over the years, we really haven’t seen him let loose that often outside of his five championship wins. It has been great to see that change as he nears the end of what can only be described as one of the most remarkable careers in the history of not just the NBA, but also professional sports.
