5 Players Who Won't Be On Milwaukee Bucks In 2016-17 NBA Season

By Chipper Murphy

The Milwaukee Bucks have gotten a pass from the mainstream media on their disappointing season, because well, let’s face it: they’re the Milwaukee Bucks.

The defense that led them to a surprising playoff run in 2014-15 lost a huge piece when they traded Zaza Pachulia away. The Bucks made a classic organizational mistake of trying to rush their rebuild, and now they are staring down the barrel of some difficult decisions. These are five players who won’t be around in 2016-17.

5. Greg Monroe

Monroe is leading the Bucks in scoring and rebounding after signing a big free agent contract. Despite the impressive performance, Monroe was rumored as a trade candidate at the deadline. He's only under contract for one more season — with a player option for 2017-18 — so Milwaukee must at least consider this drastic change.

Carter-Williams hasn't been the same since his Rookie of the Year season in 2013-14. His jump shot has become a punchline and his strengths don't outweigh that glaring weakness in his game. The point guard's trade value could be hurt by the fact that he is having season-ending hip surgery.

The Greivis Vasquez trade couldn't have worked out any worse for the Bucks. Not only has the point guard only played in 16 games, but Milwaukee gave up a first-round pick (lottery protected) in the deal. Vasquez's contract expires at the end of the season, and the Bucks will be happy to move on.
