Indiana Pacers Need To Focus On Helping Paul George In 2015-16 Stretch Run

By Brendan Patel

The Indiana Pacers are close to securing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and need to close out the season strong. A lot of the burden has fallen on their star player, Paul George, who has had a very good season as the go-to guy. However, it has still been a long season, and the team will need to get George as much rest as possible in order to keep him fresh for the playoffs.

The Pacers might not be an elite team in the East, but they have some talent on their roster. Monta Ellis is a capable scorer who has put up big numbers in the past, but he needs to show more consistency as the team is relying on him to produce. George Hill is another player with experience and talent, and he knows his role in helping the team win. His outside shooting and versatility on defense are extremely valuable, but there are times where he needs to be more aggressive and take the initiative on offense.

The Pacers do not ask much of their big men on offense, and they have done a decent job of getting efficient shots and filling their roles. Defensively is where they have the potential to be better, as they have several players with the ability to really step up against good opponents. They have size, length and athleticism, as well as several bodies to throw out there, which should allow them to compete on a nightly basis.

George has done a lot for the team this year, but he will need help down the stretch if the team wants to make it back to the postseason. They have a good enough roster around him where he doesn’t need to be doing everything, but his teammates must step up. They could be a dangerous team with their talent and experience, and if their star player is healthy and fresh, then it will make it that much tougher to beat them.
