Cleveland Cavaliers Will Dominate In 2016 NBA Playoffs

The Cleveland Cavaliers have an ideal matchup in the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Detroit Pistons, and this should help LeBron James and company cruise past everyone else in the Eastern Conference once again. The firing of David Blatt didn’t make sense earlier this year, and it still kind of doesn’t. The timing of it was quite strange at the very least. If the Cavaliers knew James wasn’t a fan of Blatt, then the team should have canned the guy over the summer.

Tyronn Lue has clearly been a better fit as it concerns LeBron, but it remains to be seen if the head coach can get through to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. That will be the key to the Cavaliers making a long playoff run, and they definitely have the personnel to do this. Irving and Love developing chemistry together is crucial for the team to have success; however, LeBron will be the one setting them up during fourth quarters.

Cleveland lost to the Pistons in their regular-season finale, and the Cavs gave James, Irving, Love and J.R. Smith the night off. Tristan Thompson also basically sat, because he committed a foul four seconds into the game and went to the bench immediately. This was to increase his consecutive games played streak to 370.

Iman Shumpert and Mo Williams didn’t play due to knee issues, and Irving tried to suit up and got shut down by Lue. Head coach Stan Van Gundy knows what a tough path his Pistons have going forward.

“Well, I mean, I think it will be difficult [to beat them],” Van Gundy said to Cleveland.com. “I mean, they’re the No. 1 seed in the East. They’re a team that went to the Finals last year. They’ve got three All-Star caliber guys. [Got] probably the best player in the world and their complimentary guys are very good.”

The Cavaliers will dominate the Eastern Conference Playoffs, and they’ll only face a real challenge from whoever comes out of the West. That will be the Golden State Warriors or San Antonio Spurs, and it would be one whale of a series to watch if it ends up happening.
