Los Angeles Lakers Must Hire Luke Walton As Next Head Coach

The Los Angeles Lakers just completed their worst season in franchise history, going 17-65 for the worst record in the Western Conference and second worst in the NBA. The season was spent focusing more on Kobe Bryant‘s retirement tour than trying to develop the young players who will be the ones around for a while.

Yesterday, the Lakers fired head coach Byron Scott who is statistically the worst coach in NBA history. The search for the team’s next head coach should start immediately with Luke Walton being the No. 1 target.

Walton led the Golden State Warriors to a 39-4 start this season as he was filling in for Steve Kerr who was out while recovering from offseason back surgery. He did a tremendous job of leading the team and keeping them afloat until Kerr returned.

Although he was often injured and never really reached his full potential, Walton spent parts of nine of his 10 seasons in the NBA with the Lakers. He’s beloved by Lakers fans and he’s the best coach on the market. If general manager Mitch Kupchak and owner Jim Buss want to create some excitement, they’ll find a way to hire Walton as the Lakers’ next head coach.
