The Charlotte Hornets lost a tough Game 7 on Sunday and will have to learn from the experience. They have some young talent to work with and will be returning one of the best defenders in the league to their lineup next season. Here are five positives they can take heading into the offseason.

Kidd-Gilchrist still cannot not do much from the perimeter, but his tenacity and lockdown ability on defense make him a key player for the future. His absence hurt the team, but if he can return healthy then he will be a huge part of their rotation.

The Hornets will have plenty of cap space to work with this summer, and they have a promising young core to help attract free agents. They could choose to bring back some key veterans or go after one of the top players available.

The Hornets were a fun team to watch because they played hard and got the most out of their talent. They had to deal with plenty of injuries throughout the year but never gave up and kept pushing.

The team got valuable experience by getting to a Game 7, and even though they didn’t win, they now know the feeling of being there. The playoffs are a much different beast than the regular season, and their younger players know they have to step up.

Walker has greatly improved his outside shot, making him a much harder player to guard. He is a dangerous scorer with the ball in his hands and has proven that he is capable of being the go-to guy on offense.
