A contentious relationship between head coach and upper management came to an end on Saturday morning, as the Memphis Grizzlies fired Dave Joerger. The coaching carousel has moved enough to eliminate some top-end options, but here are five candidates to replace Joerger as the Grizzlies’ head coach.
5. Lionel Hollins

Hollins' inclusion here is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but he a solid four-full-season run as Grizzlies' head coach from 2009-13 before being fired after a 56-win campaign. Bringing him back may not be considered ludicrous by Memphis' upper management.
4. Kevin McHale

McHale withdrew from consideration for the Sacramento Kings job, and Larry Bird quickly dismissed him as a candidate for the Pacers' job. Memphis looks like a logical step now, for an interview at minimum.
3. Byron Scott

I think Scott is the most overrated head coach in recent NBA history. But he was not the entire problem in recent years with the Lakers, and he had the bad timing of a LeBron James-less Cleveland team before that. The Grizzlies could have interest.
2. Randy Wittman

Wittman was fired by Washington after a disappointing season, and his record as a head coach (.406 winning percentage) is not great. But Memphis may seek someone they can underpay and who will toe the line on personnel, so Wittman might be the guy.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports and The Vertical immediately reported Memphis' intent to pursue Vogel, who was of course recently fired by the Indiana Pacers. Among current job openings, the Grizzlies should appeal to Vogel.
