The Toronto Raptors are fresh off of a grueling seven-game series against the Miami Heat, and their reward will be to play the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. LeBron James and the Cavaliers have yet to lose a game in the playoffs and have been resting since a 100-99 defeat of the Atlanta Hawks on May 8. Here are five bold predictions for the Eastern Conference Finals.
5. Tristan Thompson Is The X-Factor
Getty ImagesThompson did average 11 rebounds against the Hawks, but Al Horford and Paul Millsap aren't exactly defensive stalwarts. If the Cavaliers are going to move on, Thompson will have to be a major factor.
4. Bismack Biyombo Will Dominate The Paint
Getty ImagesJonas Valanciunas isn't expected to return any time soon which means more big minutes for Biyombo, who was extremely impressive against the Heat. Biyombo should dominate the smaller Cavaliers on the boards and in the paint.
3. LeBron Will Have Multiple Triple-Doubles
Getty ImagesLeBron is on a mission to bring a title back home to Cleveland, and this is probably his best shot to do so. He's been locked in since the playoffs began, and the Raptors won't be able to slow him down.
2. Kyle Lowry Will Score 40 Points In At Least 2 Games
Getty ImagesAfter starting slowly in the playoffs, Lowry put the Raptors on his back towards the end of the series against the Heat. In three meetings with the Cavaliers this season, Lowry averaged 31 points and 8.3 assists per game. He should have a big series.
1. Cavaliers Will Win Series In Five Games
Getty ImagesIt wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Cavaliers sweep in this series, but I'll give the Raptors one win at home. Lowry and DeRozan are studs, but LeBron and the Cavaliers are on a mission that the Raptors aren't going to derail.
