The Memphis Grizzlies will have a new coach and a potentially aging roster full of veterans next season. They still have enough talent to make another run, especially if they can re-sign Mike Conley, but this could be the last season together for their core players. They might be better off going with a similar lineup to past years and hoping that some of their younger players can step up with the second unit. Here’s what their ideal starting five will look like for next season.
Point Guard – Mike Conley

Bringing back Conley is key, as he is a very good, two-way point guard when healthy. He is in his prime and is a good fit for this team.
Shooting Guard – Tony Allen

Allen remains an elite defender despite his advancing age. His offense is still an issue, although his off-ball movement is impressive.
Small Forward – Matt Barnes

The Grizzlies won’t have a lot of money left if they sign Conley, and bringing back a veteran such as Barnes would be a cost-efficient move. Barnes played well last season and would be a good fit when the star players are healthy.
Power Forward – Zach Randolph

This could be Randolph’s last year in Memphis. He is still a good scorer and rebounder, and has developed chemistry with Marc Gasol over the years.
Center – Marc Gasol

Gasol has been one of the best centers in the league over the past few seasons when he is healthy. His all-around game is impressive, but the team needs him to be a better scorer in crunch time.
