Milwaukee Bucks' Ideal Starting 5 For 2016-17 Season

By Brad Berreman

After making the playoffs in 2014-15, the Milwaukee Bucks landed back in the draft lottery with a disappointing 33-49 campaign this year. Many of the same players will remain heading into next season, so here is Milwaukee’s ideal starting five for 2016-17.

Point Guard: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Antetokounmpo moved to point guard late this season with great results (18.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.9 blocks, 1.4 steals per game post-All-Star break). Michael Carter-Williams still has a place, but a bench role would fit him best.

Shooting Guard: Denzel Valentine

The Bucks have the No. 10 overall pick in June's draft, and Valentine should be available for them. As a polished prospect who can contribute immediately, there's a clear fit in Milwaukee.

Small Forward: Khris Middleton

Middleton proved to be worth the big contract he signed last summer, averaging a team-high 18.2 points per game along with 4.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. He looks like the perfect complement to Antetokounmpo and Parker.

Power Forward: Jabari Parker

Parker also upped his production after the All-Star break this year, averaging 18.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Extending his shooting range would be nice (9-for-35 from three-point range this season), but Parker is a star in the making.

Center: Greg Monroe

Monroe is bad defensively, but he had a decent first season with the Bucks (15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game). A trade is possible this summer, but other centers who might be available (Dwight Howard?) aren't substantially better than Monroe.
