The Boston Celtics are going to be in a difficult position picking No. 3 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram are far and away the best players in the draft, so if the Celtics keep the pick, they will have to choose a player from the second tier of prospects. Their options will be plentiful, and here is a look at five players they should look at with the pick.
5. C Jakob Poeltl
Getty ImagesThe Celtics need a true center, and Poeltl is arguably the best one in this class. Poeltl is a 7-footer who should be a great defender with a decent offensive game. His rebounding ability would be a huge addition for the team.
4. PF Henry Ellenson
Getty ImagesEllenson has been compared to Kevin Love, and many think he will be a terrific scorer at the next level. He also is good on the glass. However, his defense is still a work in progress, so I’m not sure he would be a fit with the Celtics.
3. PF Dragan Bender
Getty ImagesMuch like Kristaps Porzingis, Bender is a player with a lot of potential. At 7-foot-1, Bender has the ability to hit any shot on offense and is a strong rebounder. He needs to add strength for the NBA, but Bender will be a terrific stretch-four.
2. PG/SG Jamal Murray
Getty ImagesMurray has a lot of potential, especially as a scorer, and Danny Ainge will definitely consider picking him. However, as a point guard/shooting guard tweener, he may not be the right choice for the team if they keep Evan Turner.
1. SG Buddy Hield
Getty ImagesHield would be a contributor right away for the Celtics. He could be a backup at shooting guard and may develop into a great sixth man. His scoring ability, effort and leadership would make him a perfect fit on the team.
