The Houston Rockets are a joke right now. They’re desperate for new head coach Mike D’Antoni to add some excitement to a failing franchise. D’Antoni will want to change the roster to fit his vision for the team and the future. This is the Rockets’ ideal starting five for the 2016-17 season.

It's unlikely that the Rockets will even attempt to bring Dwight Howard back. They'll need a new center, and Capela has proven that he is worthy of a starting role in the league.

4. Power Forward — Al Horford

People have said that Al Horford belongs at power forward for years, but Paul Millsap has been there in Atlanta. In Houston, though, he could move to his potentially more natural position.

3. Small Forward — Nicolas Batum

Nicolas Batum will fit in well with D'Antoni and what the Rockets like to do. He can run, shoot threes and pass. At 6-foot-8 with a 7-foot-4 wingspan, Batum is an asset on defense where the Rockets need all the help they can get.

2. Shooting Guard — James Harden

If Harden buys into D'Antoni's system it will work, and if he doesn't it won't. It's that simple. He's one of the best offensive players in the game but also one of the hardest to coach.

1. Point Guard — Patrick Beverley

The Rockets were at their best with Patrick Beverley on the floor in 2015-16. He's their most efficient offensive player and plays better with Harden than anyone on the team.
