Kevin Durant Playing For Miami Heat Makes A Ton Of Sense

By Kareem Gantt

I think we can all come to the conclusion that Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is going to explore his options this summer.

He will surely have a lot of options to choose from, and one team that is expected to make a run at the star forward will be Pat Riley and the Miami Heat. They are now on the market to get another superstar around Dwyane Wade before he calls it a career.

Many people are quickly dismissing the notion that Durant would choose to follow in LeBron James’ footsteps and play out the prime of his career in sunny South Beach, but don’t be so quick to dismiss that notion. Durant donning a Heat uniform is not only realistic, it may be the smart thing to do.

Durant will almost certainly be the centerpiece of a team that has the pieces in place to make a run at a championship. Wade took a drink from Kobe Bryant’s fountain of youth and had a year in which his aging knees didn’t bother him as much. Goran Dragic is a top-notch floor leader, and, presuming he has overcome his health issues, Chris Bosh will be a beast inside with with Hassan Whiteside, the player who should be priority No. 1 once the NBA reopens for business.

That, added to the fact that the Heat play in a state with no sales tax and a major market, is quite enough to entice Durant to ditch Oklahoma City and head to Miami.

Though the Thunder will almost certainly do whatever they can to keep him in the Midwest, I truly believe if Durant decided to play elsewhere, Miami will be the best choice out of the beefy of offers he will receive this summer.

The “Kevin Durant Watch” is officially off and running.
