DeMarcus Cousins Takes To Twitter To React To Sacramento Kings' Draft Trade

By Twitter

The Sacramento Kings are one of the more dysfunctional organizations in the NBA, and in pro sports quite frankly, with not much to suggest a big change is coming anytime soon.

Center DeMarcus Cousins has been pointed to as the poster boy for the Kings’ dismal situation, mostly rightfully so as coaches have struggled to co-exist with him. After Sacramento traded for the draft rights to Greek center Georgios Papagiannis during the first round of Thursday night’s draft, Cousins immediately reacted on Twitter.

Social media is obviously a passive-aggressive way to express dissatisfaction, or perhaps even demand a trade, but Cousins is right to question the Kings’ attempt at roster construction. I don’t know what Papagiannis’ immediate future is, since he could be a “draft and stash” prospect and play overseas for a couple years. But Sacramento already has an overflow of centers, with Willie Cauley-Stein, Kosta Koufos and Eric Moreland in the fold along with Cousins.

Cousins could be the centerpiece of a Kings’ rebuild, but he also could be on the move this offseason. Maybe another team will answer his prayers with a big trade offer to Sacramento, and then we’ll see if he’s a product of a bad environment or if dysfunction will follow Cousins wherever he goes.
