By Timothy Downs

According to The Score, the Sacramento Kings have officially agreed to trade DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi to the New Orleans Pelicans.

ESPN‘s Marc Stein reports the Kings will receive rookie SG Buddy Hield, G Langston Galloway, G/F Tyreke Evans (who is on an expiring contract), a future first-round pick, and a future second-round pick.

Rumors of this deal broke earlier, but no one expected it to come to fruition before morning.

The Pelicans now have an incredibly exciting core of Cousins, PF/C Anthony Davis, and PG Jrue Holiday in place, and could easily sneak into the Western Conference playoffs as the No. 8 seed this season.

As for the Kings, it’s clear a rebuild is now underway despite the fact that they just opened a new arena.

Don’t be surprised if an injured Rudy Gay and Darren Collison are dealt within the next few days.
