DeMarcus Cousins Fights Back Tears In Incredibly Emotional Goodbye To Sacramento Kings

By Timothy Downs

Unless you were living under a rock over the past 24 hours, you know DeMarcus Cousins was traded by the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.

Although Cousins is said to be excited for a new chapter in his career, it is understandably still difficult for him to leave Sacramento after spending 6.5 seasons with the Kings.

Just an hour ago, Carmichael Dave of CBS Sacramento shared somber footage of Cousins saying goodbye in what appears to be a going-away party in his honor.

“My love for this city will never change,” Cousins said, as he fought back tears. “Even though I’m gone, it will still be the same. I’m still looking out for these kids. Every family in this city matters to me. Every soul in the city matters to me. Everything’s the same. I’m just not in a Kings uniform anymore, which is OK, because the love is still gonna go on. Thank you.”

This is just further proof that goodbyes are one of the most difficult things to do in any walk of life.

Cousins obviously got a bum rap throughout the years, as he clearly had a ton of love for the Kings organization and the city of Sacramento despite whispers to the contrary from NBA media.
