Toronto Raptors Star Kyle Lowry Will Likely Miss Remainder of Regular Season

By Jason Fletcher

Prior to the 2017 NBA Trade Deadline, Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri made the decision to acquire Serge Ibaka and PJ Tucker in an effort to go after the seemingly vulnerable Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

While the Raptors have defeated both the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers in their first two games with their new pieces, the organization was dealt some tragic news on Monday when it was announced that star point guard Kyle Lowry will undergo surgery on Tuesday morning to remove some loose bodies from his right wrist.

According to reports, Lowry is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season with the injury, but is hoping to return for the playoffs.

Currently, Toronto holds the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference with a two-and-a-half-game lead on the Atlanta Hawks who hold the No. 5 seed. Lowry’s injury could put the Raptors in danger of dropping into the bottom-half of the Eastern Conference heading into the playoffs which could make the playoffs much more of a difficult task.

In the meantime, Toronto will rely on Cory Joseph, DeMar DeRozan, and Serge Ibaka to try and remain in the hunt in the Eastern Conference.
