Andrew Bogut Will Sign With Cleveland Making the Cavaliers the Odds-On Favorites in the Eastern Conference

By Jason Fletcher

After reaching the NBA Finals last season with the Golden State Warriors, Andrew Bogut was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason in order to make enough cap space for Kevin Durant. Bogut played in 26 games this season for the Mavericks and averaged 3.0 points and 8.3 rebounds as he missed a number of games due to injury.

Prior to the 2017 NBA Trade Deadline, the Mavericks made the decision to deal Bogut to the Philadelphia 76ers in a deal that brough Nerlens Noel back to Dallas.

After spending a few days in Philadelphia, Bogut and the Sixers reached a buyout agreement on Monday which made the big man from Australia a free agent. Almost immediately, word began to leak that Bogut would sign with the Cavaliers, but Andrew decided to speak with the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs before ultimately deciding on joining the Cavs.

The Cavaliers are Bogut’s best chance at winning a title this season as Cleveland has an easier road to the NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference as opposed to teams like the Rockets or Spurs who will have to do battle with the Golden State Warriors out West.
