Steph Curry Says Third Straight Warriors-Cavaliers Finals Matchup Is 'Great For The NBA'

During practice day media obligations on Sunday, Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry made news when he told reporters his team’s third-straight Finals meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers is “Great for the NBA.”

From theScore:

The history that’s being created between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors is evident to everyone watching this year’s Finals. As for the players at the center of the main event, Stephen Curry is on board with how good this third straight Finals matchup is for everyone.

“I think it’s great for the league what’s going on right now, for sure,” the Warriors star told reporters Sunday. “There are great storylines you can follow all year, and for us to be back in this situation – this is the third time – the level of competition and intensity in the Finals, it’s unbelievable.”

Curry was queried on whether he hoped the Cavaliers’ core players would be sticking together for the foreseeable future – the same way the Warriors are poised to continue on with their main pieces – so that the two sides would keep meeting like this.

“Especially when you have that history with the opposing team,” he said, referring to Cleveland. “We would love to be in the Finals every year, I’m sure they would love to be in the Finals every year and the back and forth. A lot of things happen in the league that you can’t really predict but that would be good for everybody involved.”

Although TV ratings are spectacular and plenty of dough is indeed pouring into the association, it’s hard to imagine the 28 other NBA franchises agree with Curry’s comments.

And while fans have undoubtedly enjoyed the trilogy, many will be glad when the league is a tad more unpredictable…
