John Wall Agrees To Massive Contract Extension With Washington Wizards

By Timothy Downs

Late Friday night, it was announced NBA All Star John Wall signed a four-year, $170 million contract extension with the Washington Wizards.

Wall released the following video via UNINTERRUPTED.

I just had to think it out with my family and friends and make a decision. Y;all know where I wanted to be at. I’m happy I’m coming back another four years to be a Washington Wizard. Y’all know what I’m going for. Definitely gonna bring y’all the championship, that’s my ultimate goal. And I won’t stop till I get it…

While it seems like Wall has been in the NBA for an eternity, he’s still just 26 years old following his seventh (and best) season.

Wall averaged career highs in points (23.1) and assists (10.7) during the 2016-17 campaign, and led the Wizards to their best record (49-33) since the then Washington Bullets went 54-28 in 1978-79.

With the seemingly inevitable downfall of the Cleveland Cavaliers beginning following the Kyrie Irving trade demand and LeBron James‘ pending free agency next summer, it’s fair to assume Wall and the Wizards will be fighting with the improved Boston Celtics for the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed in the coming years.
