2013 NBA Draft Combine: 10 Players to Watch For

stern
Jayne Kamin-Ocnea-USA Today Sports

On Thursday morning, the 2013 NBA Draft Combine will begin and feature a number of former college basketball stars with a few international studs mixed in.

While not all of this year's top talent will compete, the draft combine is what it is -- an opportunity for some to prove their worth against some of the cream of the crop in this year's draft class.

Before we take a look at ten players who are worth taking note of in this year's draft combine, let's first take a look at some of the notable players who will reportedly not be competing in the drills portion of the event:

Anthony Bennett (injury)

Alex Len (injury)

Nerlens Noel (injury)

Despite nearly half of the expected lottery not competing in this year's draft combine, we do have some other notable names who are. From under-the-radar, untapped potential to college stars who are hoping to take their games to the next level, this year's draft class is not all that strong, but there certainly could be some diamonds in the rough.

Let's take a look at 10 players to keep an eye on at the 2013 NBA Draft Combine:

No. 10- Nate Wolters

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA Today Sports

If you don't know the name Nate Wolters -- you should. By way of South Dakota State, Wolters is entering the NBA Draft after a terrific four year collegiate career which included the school's first two NCAA Tournament appearances. We are about to see if Wolters is worthy of his projection as an early second rounder.

No. 9- Myck Kabongo

Brendan Maloney-USA Today Sports

After being ruled ineligible for most of this past season, Myck Kabongo saw a decrease in his draft stock. He made the decision to leave Texas anyway and now it's going to be interesting to see where he hears his name called. Kabongo would like to have a nice showing at the NBA Draft Combine.

No. 8- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Don McPeak-USA Today Sports

By way of Georgia, 6-foot-6 shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has molded himself into one of the more under-appreciated prospects in this year's class. Caldwell-Pope should be taken in the upper half of the first round, but he can really help his stock with a strong showing in Chicago.

No. 7- Shabazz Muhammad

Kyle Terada-USA Today Sports

Some people weren't too pleased with the play of Shabazz Muhammad this past season, despite him averaging 18 points per game. Muhammad is stepping up to the challenge by competing at the 2013 NBA Draft combine, so credit him and keep an eye on his production in Chicago.

No. 6- Isaiah Canaan

Joshua S. Kelly-USA Today Sports

Isaiah Canaan was a college superstar by way of Murray State and he has a prolific scoring ability that could warrant a late, first round selection. Canaan needs to prove that capability.

No. 5- Glen Rice Jr.

rice
Jeff Blake-USA Today Sports

Glen Rice Jr. is entering the draft as a representative of the NBDL. After being dismissed from the team at Georgia Tech in 2012, Rice Jr. had a nice season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He's an intriguing prospect to watch, without a doubt.

No. 4- Rudy Gobert

There's never any guarantee that players will actually show up and compete despite receiving an invite to the NBA Draft combine, but it'd be nice if fans and scouts could get a glimpse of Rudy Gobert. A legit 7-footer by way of France, Gobert could really stake his claim as the top international prospect in this year's class with some strong workouts heading into June.

No. 3- Ricky Ledo

ledo
noticel.com

Ricky Ledo was a top prospect who was ruled ineligible this past season at Providence. Long story short, he's a true talent, but nobody has really seen him playing outside of his high school days. He's a 6-foot-7 shooting guard however, who could have really been a star at the collegiate level -- let's see what he has in place for Chicago.

10 of 11

No. 2- Pierre Jackson

jackson
Joe Camporeale-USA Today Sports

Pierre Jackson has made a name for himself over the past few years, emerging from the junior college ranks in becoming a star at Baylor. Jackson has some Nate Robinson-like flare to his game and some mock drafts have him going as high as the latter portion of the first round. Time to see if those projections are worthy.

11 of 11

No. 1- Norvel Pelle

pelle
theshiver.com

Norvel Pelle is the definition of a draft enigma. He's 6-foot-10 and he loves to play above the rim. Hiss upside could be through the roof, but here's the only problem -- nobody has seen him play because he was ruled ineligible by the NCAA twice. Pelle is done with the collegiate ranks without ever playing a game, but the NBA Draft Combine is the perfect place for him to prove his worth, upside and potential to scouts in attendance.
