Purdue ekes out 79-60 win over S. Illinois. Yea- that’s right- Purdue needed 31 second half points from senior studs E’Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson to knock off the Salukis. The Boilermakers were 4 for 23 from the field from the get-go. They better develop some scoring depth if they want to contend in conference play.
Syracuse tops Michigan 53-50. The Wolverines gave the Orange a game they didn’t expect but couldn’t pull off the Boardwalk upset in Atlantic City. Michigan took a 45-44 lead with just under six minutes left on a Stu Douglass three but Scoop Jardine quickly answered with a tre’ of his own for Syracuse as the Orange hung on and turned back the upset minded Michigan crew.
Wisconsin gets Revenge on (Donahue) via Boston College 65-55. Current BC Coach Steve Donahue was at Cornell’s helm last year and bumped the Badgers out of the NCAA tourney. Wisconsin teased him and his Eagles by spotting them a six point second-half margin, only to go on a 32-4 scoring psunami down the stretch, led by Jon “Lumberjack” Lauer. The Badgers still haven’t matched their gridiron brothers 83 points yet though.
