Hawkeyes Win in Big Ten
Fran McCaffery’s squad came out on top for the first time in Big Ten play today, defeating the Indiana Hoosiers 91-77 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Four Hawkeyes scored in double digits to boost Iowa (8-11, 1-6) over Indiana (10-10, 1-6). Melsahn Basabe lead the Hawks with 20 points and 10 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season. Matt Gatens finished the game with 19 and freshman Roy Devyn Marble had a career-high 18 points. Eric May also tallied 11.
Iowa lead at half by 10 and came out on a 12-4 run within minutes of the second half. Christian Watford for the Hoosiers had a career-high 30 points which kept Indiana in the game, he scored 14 of those points consecutively.
Iowa will head to the Bryce Jordan Center on Wednesday to face a tough Nittany Lion team (10-8, 3-4).
