Michigan State basketball suffered more turmoil Tuesday night. Backup Point Guard Korie Lucious was suspended for the remainder of this year for ‘conduct detrimental to the team’, the same thing Tom Izzo stated as his reason for the dismissal of Chris Allen over the summer.
No one outside of the program is sure what Lucious did exactly. He is on probation for a Reckless Driving charge he was convicted of before the season, and may or may not have played a factor is his suspension. The details are unclear, and we will make sure to pass along information once it becomes available. A detnews.com article claims that Lucious will transfer to another school.
On the court, MSU will certainly miss his impact. When Kalin Lucas takes a breather, Lucious becomes the primary ball-handler and plays point guard. With Lucious gone, we can expect to see Mike Kebler move in to this role, and Keith Appling may also see some time at the point. Lucious was the team leader in assist, and was a solid three-point shooter.
