The traditional Beat Michigan week has commenced at Ohio State as their number one men’s basketball team will host the Wolverines on Thursday.
Michigan is 13-9 this season as they prepare for their rival game against the Buckeyes. According to the Buckeye Nuthouse Twitter page, the upcoming game has already sold over 17,500 tickets. Ohio State has won the last 11 out of 13 match-ups against Michigan and Buckeye fanatics are hoping that the streak continues.
The Buckeyes narrowly defeated Michigan 68-64 previously this season. But to maintain their top spot in the Big 10, Ohio State will have to watch out for Michigan’s Darius Morris and Evan Smotrycz. The Buckeyes will have to focus on containing these two players in particular to prevent a potential upset.
An interesting match-up is sure to be between Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger and Michigan’s Darius Morris. Both individuals play with consistency and come out on top as lead scorers for their teams.
Michigan has played strong the last couple weeks beating Iowa and Michigan State. However, the Buckeyes remain the unanimous choice for the number one spot in the AP Basketball Poll for the second week in a row. A victory over Michigan keeps Ohio State secure in their spot as the only undefeated division one basketball team.
