Busy Weekend for Buckeye Hockey
Not one but two teams from Michigan are heading down to Columbus this week to face the Buckeyes.
On Thursday, the Michigan Wolverines will attempt to take on Ohio State’s undefeated men’s basketball team. Meanwhile, the Michigan State Spartans will head to the ice rink for their games against the Buckeyes this Friday and Saturday.
The Buckeyes are an overall strong team with four key players who have scored at least 20 points each throughout this season: Albert, Somma, Dries and Boyd. Michigan State will have to hope for power plays in their favor and keep the puck in Buckeye territory if they want to beat Ohio State.
Goalies from both teams have received the CCHA Goalie of the Week award this season, so it’ll be interesting to see which team is stronger defensively.
The Bucks are using this home game as a way to give back to the community. The team is holding a Teddy Bear Toss where fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to throw onto the ice after Ohio State scores their first goal. All bears will be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House on Valentine’s Day by the players.
