On the heels of one of this season’s most fantastic finishes in the Big South, Liberty remains in the hunt for the conference regular season title.

At 13-3 in the Big South, Liberty remains a game and a half behind Coastal Carolina (15-2) for first place with two games remaining. The Flames need a pair of wins down the stretch and a Coastal Carolina loss to Charleston Southern to achieve a tie for the regular season title, but the opportunity still remains.

On Wednesday, Liberty received even more good news as 2012 prospect Larry Taylor has offered his verbal pledge to join the program for the 2012-2013 season.

Taylor, a 5-foot-10 point guard out of Englewood, Florida, is known for his tremendous speed and ability to get to the rim despite his overall height.

Taylor is listed as flashy and has the ability to be a crowd favorite for a squad yearning to emerge in the Big South Conference.

The Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune broke the news early on Wednesday.

Taylor becomes the first commitment for the Flames from the class of 2012.
