Georgetown Adds Greg Whittington to 2011 Class
The Hoyas will face the winner of VCU and USC in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
However, Georgetown head coach John Thompson III received some good news for next year as he prepares for the final stretch of the 2010-2011 season. Class of 2011 forward Greg Whittington has offered his commitment to join the Hoyas this upcoming fall.
Whittington, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of Columbia, Maryland currently attends Oakland Mills H.S. (MD).
Considered as one of the more “on-the-rise” prospects, Whittington did not make too much noise prior to this season. Whittington made the decision to hold off on making a collegiate decision and that has certainly paid off.
Aside from the Hoyas, Whittington had been receiving attention from Texas, DePaul, Clemson, and Maryland prior to the announcement of his decision.
Whittington becomes the fourth 2011 commitment for Thompson III. The class is highlighted by combo guard Jabril Trawick and a loaded frontline featuring Mikael Hopkins and former Duke decommit Tyler Adams.
Trawick, Hopkins, and Adams have all signed their National Letters of Intent.
Whittington is lean at 6-foot-8, 195 lbs., but the forward is a young man who has presented the potential for a great upside.
Georgetown will play the winner of the VCU/USC game at approximately 9:50pm ET on Friday night.
