Wisconsin ranked No. 15 in final coaches poll

The Badgers finished the season ranked No. 15 in the final USA Today Coaches Poll released Tuesday.

NCAA champion Connecticut received every first place vote but one. Northern Arizona coach Mike Adras ranked Ohio State, which was eliminated in the Sweet Sixteen, as his No. 1 team. The Buckeyes were ranked No. 5 overall in the poll.

Thanks to their second-round loss to VCU, who was ranked No. 6, Purdue fell to No. 17 in the final poll. Michigan, which will likely be a popular 2011 preseason pick to win the Big Ten title, received seven votes and Illinois received one.

The Badgers’ final ranking comes as no surprise. Postseason rankings usually reflect the results of the NCAA tournament, so No. 15 seems about right given Wisconsin’s Sweet Sixteen exit.
